At PPS we realise that web-sites are incredibly important to Companies wishing
to attract custom and trade over the Internet. Not only are they shop-windows, but can also be
retail areas and point-of-sales - many companies now trade
exclusively over the Internet with no physical
trading areas whatsoever. If a potential customer does not like a site, or finds it time-consuming
to use, then that customer will simply go elsewhere and probably never come back.
The Internet, and 'e-commerce', is still relatively
in its infancy. Libraries are full of books covering
shop and store merchandising techniques; what the ideal
height of a product is on a shelf, what products sell
best when placed near a sales-point, what different
colour-schemes to use for different product-lines
etc.... Students can even gain State
qualifications in merchandising and the science behind
it. E-commerce however is still evolving, partly
due to rapidly moving technology and partly due to the constantly
falling cost-of-use attracting ever-more people.
The developers at PPS at constantly browsing the
Internet, studying both successful and not-so-successful sites, to ensure they know what works and what does not.
Coupled with ensuring they keep up to date with the
latest development techniques and technologies, our
developers make sure your website is perfectly suited
for the task it must perform.
Website design companies, around the Globe, have
still not found a ideal or comfortable method of
charging or presenting their pricing structures.
Some use a cost-per-page policy, some use a daily-rate
system. PPS have decided that their is no
single, easy, way of pricing. Per-page systems work well when
sites are presentation-based, with pages simply
presenting information to users, but are totally
inappropriate for data-driven dynamic sites where the
pages may be being created by software analysing
the data contained in a database. A daily-rate system works well
when the client company has the technical skills
to know exactly what is to be done to realise the
required site. Everyday we hear stories of sites costing
'far more than envisaged' and companies having to re-evaluate
their WWW presence (Almost every week on the News is a story
of another company struggling due to rising costs!). At PPS we
believe there is no silver-bullet, no single simple way of
pricing a web-site. Therefore, when we are approached
to develop a new-site, we begin by working closely with the
client to determine the exact requirements of the site, what the
client expects and what the design must achieve. We will then
quote a fixed-price for the design and hosting (if required)
as well as the charges for updates/maintenance based
on the function of the site. Contact
us to discuss (without obligation) your website, or
any further information you required,
